Specimen must arrive on a MTM plate contained in a zip lock bag with CO2 capsule. Kits available from Laboratory.
1. Collect specimen from genital source using a cotton or rayon tipped swab.
2. Inoculate a modified Thayer Martin plate. Insert into a Ziploc® bag with CO2 capsule. Crush CO2 capsule after sealing bag.
3. Label swab with patient’s name (first and last), date and time of collection, and type of specimen.
4. Maintain sterility and forward promptly at ambient temperature only. Do not refrigerate.
