Acceptable Specimens:
Cervix, labia, labial ulcers, lochia, penile discharge or secretion, semen, urethra, or vagina
1. Collect specimen using a sterile Culturette® with transport media.
2. Label Culturette® with patient’s name (first and last), date and time of collection, and type of specimen.
3. Maintain sterility and forward promptly at ambient
temperature only.
Note: Specimen source is
required.
Conventional Culture Techniques
Test includes culture of yeast, group B beta-strep, Gardnerella vaginalis, Listeria as primary pathogens. Source dependant on pathogens reported.
