Serum/Plasma Gel Tube

• Separate serum from cellular material within 2 hours of collection.

Grey-top (potassium oxalate/sodium fluoride) tube

• Does not need to be separated if testing is performed within 24 hours of collection.

Specimen Volume: 2 mL (pediatric) or 4 mL

Transport Temperature: Refrigerated

Colorimetric, Glucose Oxidase

65-140 mg/dL

Critical values (automatic call-back):

0-2 days: <35 mg/dl, >200 mg/dl

2 days-1 year: <50 mg/dl, >200 mg/dl

1 year and older:  <50 mg/dl , >500 mg/dl
