Collection Instructions: Allow specimen to clot for 30 minutes. Spin specimen in centrifuge.
Latex Agglutination
A single determination of antibodies to streptococcal A extracellular antigens is not as significant as serial titrations performed at weekly or biweekly intervals for up to 6 weeks following infection. Sequential determination can give trend of patient’s antibody production, and also with monitoring progress and treatment of infection.
Note: Positive tests will automatically be titered to endpoint.
<5 years: 100-200 units (normal)
Repeat in 1-2 weeks to determine if there is an increase in titer.
>5 years: Negative
