Collection Instructions: Allow specimen to clot for 30 minutes. Spin specimen in centrifuge. If there is a delay in transport of ≥1 hour, send specimen refrigerated. If there is a delay in transport of ≥24 hours, remove serum from gel tube(s) and send frozen in plastic vial.
Note: Peak level must be drawn at specifically timed intervals which requires close coordination of Nursing, Phlebotomy, and Pharmacy staff. Dosing is calculated according to time of draw and concentration of drug in circulation. Peak level should be drawn 60 to 90 minutes after completion of infusion.
